I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Salesforce (Singapore) in Jan 2020
Interview
It is something unique and exciting. Asked to come up with a research idea. You will have enough time (days, weeks, or months if you need) to read, think, and discuss with them. Ultimately, you will come up with a problem statement that is A) interesting, and B) Has not been solved before. Besides this, your continuous discussions with them should also provide possible solutions that you might want to perform during the internship. Overall, the interview itself was great!

Question 1
Not made for research jobs, all you know and can contribute to the research community will be tested. Better to be good at reading research papers, finding out flaws in general, and solve a wider problem (not just flaws).
There's no coding interview for the team based in Palo Alto. The interviews are highly focused on digging into my past research experience and my future research plans. The interviewers and hiring managers are very friendly and can really spend time knowing about me, rather than screening applicants with code interviews, which, sadly, is the common practice in FAANG.

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Salesforce
Interview
1st round: Coding challenge(2 problems, total 60mins)
2nd round: Technical interview with a research scientist
3rd round is an interview with a hiring manager or team manager, but I cannot pass the 2nd round. Thus, I am not sure about 3rd round.
