Widespread toxic politics

Pros

Trips to Amsterdam, free lunch

Cons

The Adyen culture that was once revered has disappeared, making way for a corporate atmosphere fueled by the company's rapid growth. Regrettably, the introduction of power-hungry leaders from outside has led to a prioritization of their own interests, disregarding the well-being of the employees. This has resulted in a pervasive toxic political environment and a heightened tendency to assign blame. The days when senior management set an example and supported employees to deliver excellent service to merchants are now gone. Existing employees experience minimal to no professional growth, as the focus has shifted predominantly towards external leaders who, ironically, often lack experience in their respective domains. Moreover, external hires receive higher compensation compared to existing employees, exacerbating the sense of inequity. It is disheartening to see senior managers taking credit for the hard work of their subordinates while expecting them to work tirelessly. Prepare yourself for an exhausting work environment where the workload can be overwhelming, while senior managers reap the rewards of your efforts, and sacrifice you for your mistakes.

Pros

When I first joined, there was a strong culture of openness and the genuine commitment of the management to listen to employee feedback. However, in recent times, there has been a noticeable decline in this aspect, coinciding with a shift in leadership

Cons

I used to speak highly of Adyen's open culture but it is long gone. New management lacks alignment with company culture Openness to feedback has diminished Retaliation against employees who provide genuine feedback The new leadership, heavily influenced by Asian culture, has brought with it a different set of values and practices that do not align with the established company culture The company prefers new externals hires instead of encouraging internal growth, so if you're trying to progress this is not the place for you.

Pros

-Nice office -A lot of atas swags given during the pandemic -Reputable products in payment industry -Salary is not bad

Cons

-Many good and capable employees including a few pioneer team members have left or are leaving -People got recognised for what they said, instead of what they had achieved and delivered; This place may not suit silent doers, but those who are good at getting the publicity for themselves -A lot of grey and ambiguity to navigate. At times, standing in the wrong line could be costly -Feedback culture is generally lacking. If your partial expectation for your direct manager is to help with your professional development through regular and constructive feedback, the reality might turn out disappointing depending which team you join -It's a shame as the product is very good
