I’ve had the unfortunate experience of working at Partners Group, and it’s a place that I would absolutely not recommend to anyone. The corporate politics are unreal—there’s an overwhelming culture of bootlicking and politics. Different teams are constantly fighting for resources and attention, all while trying to push their own agendas. This creates a toxic environment where collaboration is rare, and it feels like everyone is out for themselves.
Senior management has become increasingly less transparent over the years, offering vague corporate messages that focus solely on revenue numbers. The new COO, Michael Marquardt, is clueless (he thought I was a member of a different team for 5 months before realising).
Employee concerns are completely ignored. Issues like salary competitiveness, long notice periods, high turnover, and constant restructuring are all brushed aside in favor of short-term financial goals. It’s frustrating to see how little attention is given to the wellbeing and satisfaction of employees.
Speaking of compensation, the pay is far below market rates. As a result, the company has an incredibly high turnover rate. They have a tendency to hire young, cheap, and inexperienced workers, throw them into challenging roles, and expect them to sink or swim. While you may gain exposure to a variety of tasks, the reality is that you're not compensated fairly for the level of responsibility or the risk involved. It’s clear that employees are treated as disposable.
To top it off, the company has a habit of appointing managers who lack any relevant experience to lead teams. These individuals are often in over their heads, which leads to poor decision-making and mismanagement. Good managers have left in the last one to two years because of this. The lack of leadership and direction from the top down is just another example of how disorganised and mismanaged the company is.
Overall, Partners Group is a place where politics and toxic behaviour is prioritised over collaboration, and employees are expected to work in an environment that is both toxic and unappreciated. With its high turnover, lack of respect for its workers, and poor management, this is a company I would strongly advise staying away from.
