Cons

Staff perceive that foreign executives attempting to run Australian operations are not matchy matchy with local laws, expectations or operational reality. The COO is widely viewed as unqualified for the role and unable to meet the demands of the Australian environment. Cereal box prizes don’t count. SG HQ’s handling of whistleblower complaints appears procedural on paper and ineffective in practice.

You’ll develop survival instincts normally reserved for people trapped in chemical spills.

Cons

Undelivered promises aren’t a glitch; they’re the entire operating system. Wage theft at ports brushed off like a clerical typo instead of a complete ethical failure. A rapidly expanding graveyard of lost contracts since the COO arrived, each one explained with the creativity of a child caught lying. The mythical ‘Transformation’ seems like a black hole of the lost $20m and a now defunct project team. A pattern of Dismissal rather than leadership introspection.

A fast paced and dynamic environment that offers excellent learning and growth opportunities. High performers are recognised and rewarded, though the overall experience can also depend on the leadership and management team you work with. One of the company’s strengths is the willingness of many colleagues to share their knowledge, provide guidance, and support professional development.

Cons

Hours can be long during peak season, but that is normal. Managing key stake holders can be challenging, but that’s part of the job where we learn stakeholder management
