Pros

In Ogilvy's defence, the breadth of learning is wide but it comes at the cost of your sanity. It is super accurate to say they train soldiers so the bare minimum after life in Ogilvy feels divine. Great for your resume. Pre-COVID, they stocked the bar with reasonably-priced wines. AGM parties are also pretty lit.

Cons

This job destroyed my mental health and it feels like being in an abusive relationship. Staying as long as I did must be because of Stockholm Syndrome. The hours are long, the culture is very cliche-y and exclusive and the pay is just immorally low. There is truly a culture of divine discontent from managers as they want more and more of your time and energy. Whenever you flag that you're overworked, the problem is always you and your ability to manage your time. It's never that the workload is intense! Ogilvy is also really hung up on internal processes. Too much that they let their legacy of excellence blind them to the fact that they are falling behind nimbler, smaller agencies. Forget the career conversation, it's just lip service. Forget the culture, it's just for outward appearances and to make you feel like you're slaving for something grander than reality. Forget "woke social idealism", that's just for show. Join Ogilvy with a plan in mind - take everything you can learn and then leave right before you lose your mind.
